Firing Vietnam War Era Guns

As part of our tour of the Cu Chi Tunnel system, there is a firing range which for a small cost you can fire genuine war era weapons, an M16 rifle, an M60 machine gun or even an AK47.

It was a marginally safe environment although extremely noisy but it was quite exciting and not something you get to do every day.

Choose you weapon from the list and buy how ever many bullets you like for around $1-$2 each.

We bought clips of 10 for M16 rifles and a M60 machine gun.

Safety was minimal, as you can tell from the operator above holding a random handful of live ammunition, the noise of the gunfire was intense, and as the guns were fired, hot cartridge shells pinged out all over the place and piles of them were rolling around under our feet, but despite all that we did enjoy the experience.

It was some relief after the horrors of the Cu Chi Tunnels tour and Mollie in particular had great fun, it’s not every day a girl gets to fire a real machine gun.

However, although it was fun it did remind us that you never want to be near the sharp end of any of these weapons.

Here is a video of Mollie and me firing our guns. Mark also fired a rifle by unfortunately no one was around to video the event.
