January 12 2014, a day to remember.
But before the big day there was a wedding rehearsal and Welcome Dinner on a beach at the other end of the island:
We travelled in a nice new electric taxi to the wedding venue for the trial run:

The superb venue for the Welcome Dinner:

Sunset happened while all this was going on:
Dinner was delayed somewhat by ferry problems with Tash’s local relatives, but they did arrive in time for a good feed and “meet and greet” session, away from prying eyes:
Vinka making everyone feel welcome:
On the morning of the wedding, there was a carnival on the beach, as if they knew something important was happening, but it was a festival celebrating the change of seasons to the rainy season we think. But either way it was a very bright and noisy affair with competing teams of drummers beating up a storm:
Watch this video of the festival drummers:

Someone’s seen it all before:
The bridal party arrives:
The ceremony starts:

The reception venue was 5 stars:
The new bride and groom arrive to do their part:
Now the ritual “garter removal” ceremony:
And the newest Mr and Mrs Ribbans first dance:
The after-party was the usual quiet, sober affair:
The next day we met for lunch and said our sad good-byes to our now extended family but very happy to have been part of an excellent event spread over several days.
We all resolved to meet up again sometime and then had a ceremonial group photo before heading home to various parts of the world, Australia, Germany, Italy, Philippines, and the USA:
Thanks Scott and Tash for a wonderful time in Boracay and all the planning that you put into ensuring your wedding all went superbly well.
And although you didn’t get to hear it yet, at our request, this young lady Mycon and her group the High Octaves from Manila, is singing you a Happy Wedding dedication with the song “My Heart Will Go On”, which we thought was very appropriate. Click here or on the video below:
Not the best quality but we recorded it in the bar of the Berjaya Makati Hotel in Manila, and we’d had a few drinks by then.
